From London to Morocco via Rome













 Morocco suspended direct flights to and ftom UK since 10/20 right after I purchased the direct flight ticket (8£). Although Ryanair refunded the direct ticket and I bought London - Rome - Marrakesh, Morocco tickets (8£ + 28€) from Ryanair, I was responsible to get in Rome customs to get the 2nd boarding pass then get back in the airside in 1:45 transfer (I will try to avoid “self transfer” in the future). As a side note, I found the combo tickets via Skyscanner, but Ryanair does not sell tickets together while the other online booking services have bad reviews. So I bought the tickets separately from Ryanair directly. I prepared all the Covid documents for Italy but the customs did not care.


While anxiously flying the 1st leg, I came up two plans in case I failed to connect to the 2nd leg: either buying the next available flight into Morocco or traveling south Italy instead. 


1:45 was barely enough time for me to check out via the Italian customs, waiting in line for my boarding pass, and went via security check to fly Marrakesh, but I made it. The aerial views of London, French mountain ranges, Moroccan landscapes were amazing. Should I hike the north Africa highest peak or not, is the question.

 It was street art, food, and market day. I took the Free Street Art & Graffiti Tour in Whitechapel that became particularly notorious in 19th century for the gruesome murders of Jack the Ripper (once known as 'The Whitechapel Murderer'), but later attracts aspiring artists moved for the cheap rents but still central location, including graffiti on the Brick Lane in Shoreditch. Graffiti originated from gang marking territories, and mostly illegal. This was the first time I saw its making live (and by a group of artists). I also visited three markets in the neighborhood: Petticoat Lane, Spitalfields, and Brick Lane, as well as Amazon UK promotion event (to be filmed and got a free tasting whiskey drink). Escaped flooded Lake District back to London

 I got a lift from my hostelmate, and successfully escaped from the rainy Lake District back to London around 1:30 pm this afternoon. I left the flat Harry Potter free walking tour after 30 minutes, to visit the artsy Covent garden and other spots in Soho, and then ran to the borough market before it close at 5 pm. Soho Is a fashionable district for the aristocracy, the main entertainment district, and London's gay community is centred on Old Compton Street in Soho. Covent Garden centres on the elegant, car-free Piazza, home to fashion stores, craft stalls at the Apple Market, and the Royal Opera House.  “Borough Market is a wholesale and retail market hall in Southwark, London, England. A sunny day in Cambridge

 I took train to Cambridge a university city and enjoyed a sunny pleasant day with a panorama view from the tower of St. Mary Church, toured the St. Christian College, had a Germany hot dog in the Market Square, took a walking tour, and walked up the Castle Hill.  It has a lot of green open spaces and cattle grazing only 500 yards from the market square. According to the tour guide, The University of Cambridge was founded in the 13th century by scholars leaving Oxford after a dispute with townsfolk. I photoed I front of the colleges associated with Sir Isaac Newton and Steven Hawking.  Cambridge academics have won more Nobel Prizes than those of any other university in the world.
