Coimbra, Portugal

My hostel in the center of Coimbra also supports pilgrim hikers yet with very modern facilities and design. I checked in to drop my bag then took a very informative walking tour before a hardy chicken steak fried noodles (4.8€) for dinner. My roommate today is a pilgrim hiker started from Lisbon.

Coimbra was Portugal former capital, a preserved medieval old town hosting the oldest University of Coimbra. “Built on the grounds of a former palace, the university is famed for its baroque library, the Biblioteca Joanina, and its 18th-century bell tower.” Our tour guide graduated from this prestigious university 10-yr ago and showed us in and out of the city, such as a prison converted from a convent, and some insider stories of the university which expensive uniform looks like Harry Potter’s outfit. We ran into a group of costumed female students.
